My name is Mallory. I came back in to recovery by way of Ben’s Friends on March 4, 2019. I did not know at the time that Ben’s Friends and the beautiful people who attended at that time were saving my life.
I come from a very small town in Northern Ontario, Canada. I have lived in the US for 24 years. I had my first drink & drug when I was 12 and achieving sobriety had been an incredible struggle for me up until March of 2019. But that is not to say it isn’t still a struggle! It gets easier but it never gets easy.
I started working in a bar & grill when I was 15 as a hostess. Somehow I knew then that I was a lifer. I went on to be an expo, server, bartender, manager, GM and even a level one Sommelier. The service industry will always have a big part of my heart…and also my soul! The people I have met and befriended along the way is really where the magic is in the service industry. And what is so awesome now is I get to walk again with some of those people in sobriety.
I hope that we can bring the sober community of Atlanta together again and share what it’s like, what it takes and how much magic and hope there is to be in recovery in this industry.
